Payal Salsburg Moderates CLE on Litigating Derivative Suits in Closely-Held Businesses

Payal Salsburg will moderate a panel of speakers for a Boston Bar Association program entitled, “Litigating Derivative Suits in Closely-Held Businesses.” This CLE covers considerations of bringing derivative claims versus a direct claim on behalf of shareholders in a closely-held business. The panelists will discuss particular considerations under Massachusetts Law as well as strategies through differing goals for resolving disputes, whether recovery of damages on behalf of a company or a business divorce. They will also discuss special issues in shareholder litigation in the context of limited liability companies. Payal Salsburg Presents as Faculty for Strafford Webinar

Payal Salsburg is co-presenting a CLE webinar entitled, “Advanced Drafting of Complaints and Answers: How to Go Beyond Required Content and Reach Multiple Audiences.” This Strafford program takes place on Thursday, December 5th from 1-2:30pm EST.  The co-panelists will address the following topics:

  • Who are the multiple audiences for pleadings and what is each member looking for when reading the pleadings?

Payal Salsburg Honored with Boston Cares Volunteer Service Award

Payal Salsburg is a tireless advocate and volunteer who has been selected as a recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PSVA) from Boston Cares. Each year, outstanding volunteers are recognized for achieving over 100 hours of service over a 12-month time period.  The PVSA is issued by the Federal government through an approved Certifying Organization like Boston Cares.

As stated on their website, Boston Cares is the largest volunteer agency in New England, an Innovation Hub within the national HandsOn Network, and an award-winning leader in the volunteer engagement sector. Filling more than 25,000 volunteer spots annually in support of more than 180 Greater Boston schools and non-profit agencies, they offer a wide array of programs and opportunities that make it simple to volunteer. Their belief is that volunteerism transforms communities through service and civic engagement.

Payal Salsburg Named to South Asian Bar Association of Greater Boston Board of Directors

Payal Salsburg has been elected to serve on the 2020 Board of Directors for the South Asian Bar Association of Greater Boston (SABA GB). SABA GB is a local chapter of the South Asian Bar Association of North America (SABA NA), which is the umbrella organization for local SABA groups throughout the United States and Canada. Payal will support the organization’s mission to amplify the regional voice of South Asians in the legal profession. She will also help SABA GB to provide an ongoing forum for professional networking and development, legal scholarship and education, and advocacy and community involvement. Together, the Board of Directors promotes the advancement of attorneys and law students of South Asian heritage in the Greater Boston area and beyond.
