Payal Salsburg Speaks at United Way Board Connection Event

Payal Salsburg presents as a panelist for this year’s annual United Way’s Board Connection event. Held virtually in early October, all of the programming is focused on bringing together professionals who seek meaningful community leadership opportunities with local nonprofits.

Payal is a panelist for, “Nonprofit Board Membership 101”  which takes place on Thursday, October 8th from 9-1130am. In this introductory session, the panelists dive into the critical aspects of participating on nonprofit boards. The groups shares advice including their own best and most challenging board experiences. The panel provides attendees with an overview of what joining a nonprofit board really means, thoughts to consider, and what questions to ask. Recognized in 2019 for her tireless dedication to public service through Boston Cares, Payal’s lengthy service in many leadership roles perfectly positions her to be a superb resource to session attendees.

 

Jessica Conklin Named Senior Counsel to Firm

The firm proudly recognizes attorney Jessica Conklin‘s excellent legal work and client service through her recent elevation to Senior Counsel.  Jessica joined the firm in 2011 as an Associate and continues to develop her practice in white collar criminal defense, government investigations, and school disciplinary hearings. Jessica has a specific expertise in working with students and their families who attend several local secondary schools, colleges and universities in connection with disciplinary proceedings and title IX investigations. Payal Salsburg and Matt Kane Present for BBA Webinar on Zoom Litigation

Payal Salsburg moderates and Matt Kane presents as a panelist for a first-of-its-kind webinar on Zoom litigation. Five months into the COVID-19 pandemic, litigation-by-Zoom has become a reality. This panel includes a Superior Court judge and lawyers who have litigated-by-Zoom at hearings, appellate arguments, and trials. The panel will hold a frank discussion about what’s working and what’s not and share their best practices. The webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, September 30th from 2-3pm through the Boston Bar Association and sponsored through the Business and Commercial Litigation section.

Payal Salsburg to Present on Career Panel for BC Law

Payal Salsburg presents as a panelist for a Boston College Law program entitled, “Semester Kick-Off: Diverse Career Pathways.”  The panel features leading female attorneys who will share information about their work in solo practice, public interest, in-house, and law firms of all sizes. The program, co-sponsored by the Women’s Law Center and LAHANAS, takes place on Thursday, September 17th at 6pm.

Payal Salsburg Presents as Panelist on Practicing with Professionalism Program

Payal Salsburg presented as a panelist for a recent program, “Access to Justice, Pro Bono, Public Service and LAR.”  The session was part of the Practicing with Professionalism program provided for new attorneys in Massachusetts. The program was jointly sponsored by the Boston Bar, Massachusetts Bar and the Lynn Bar Associations and the panel includes attorneys from both legal industry organizations and law firms of various sizes and focus.

Payal Salsburg Participates in SABAGB’s Inaugural Mentorship Committee Office Hours

Among her other leadership activities with the South Asian Bar Association of Greater Boston, firm partner Payal Salsburg offers mentoring to younger attorneys. As an active participant of the Mentorship Committee, Payal and her two SABAGB colleagues donate generously of their time to help law students and SABA mentees through both open office hours and educational programming. Each monthly session focuses on a different topic that serves to kick off discussion in free-flowing fashion. Payal Salsburg Moderates South Asian Bar Program on Job Hunting in a Pandemic

Laredo & Smith Partner, Payal Salsburg is moderating a July 29th virtual program entitled, “Job Hunting & e-Networking During a Pandemic.”  for the South Asian Bar Association of Greater Boston. The interactive program features three law firm professionals who will share effective ways to navigate uncertainties surrounding finding a job and making meaningful connections with people from a distance. Payal and her panelists will engage in an informative discussion about how new law graduates and junior/mid-level lawyers may make the most of their efforts to land a new job and expand their networks.

Jessica Conklin Elected to Board of Directors for the Center for Artistry and Scholarship

Attorney Jessica Conklin was recently elected to the board of directors for the Center for Artistry and Scholarship (CAS), an organization whose mission it is to develop and support innovative leaders in education so that they may build more equitable, collaborative and creative communities.

In her role, Jessica will work with other members of the board to support CAS as they further their mission to provide leadership coaching, transition planning, board development, fundraising and stewardship and community partnership cultivation. As a true advocate of the organization’s work, she proudly contributes to CAS ability to engage with nationally-recognized partners, proving the efficacy of an arts-infused curriculum.

Jessica is particularly proud to be a champion of the Perrone-Sizer Institute for Creative Leadership (PSi). This initiative is driven to develop a network of adaptive leaders who champion racial justice and equity, and integrate artistic and design thinking, and educational and community-based resources to transform the lives of youth and families.
